Our Heart For Akademi Kristus

At Brawler Bar, we believe business is about more than just selling great-quality products, we want to build something meaningful and lasting that is successful, sustainable, and makes a real difference. Our goal is to invest in people and help good work flourish, and few organisations capture that vision more personally for us than Akademi Kristus.

Akademi Kristus is a Bali-based charity dedicated to helping young people and their communities grow physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. They do this through education, martial arts, creative opportunities, practical support, and genuine relationships. For years, Akademi Kristus has created spaces where people can discover their value, build their abilities, and work towards a brighter future.

We’re still writing Brawler Bar’s story. We don’t know exactly how each chapter will unfold, but we do know the direction we want to go. We want to build a business that gives generously, forges real partnerships, and creates opportunities that go far beyond the products we sell.

As we grow, we’ll keep championing Akademi Kristus, sharing their story, and supporting the amazing people who make their work possible. When we think about the organisations we’d be proud to stand beside for years to come, Akademi Kristus is on that list! And we can't wait to see how that list grows.

For Brawler Bar, Akademi Kristus isn't simply an organisation we admire from a distance. At the heart of the operation are our brother and sister in Christ, Geoff and Erma Collins, and each of Brawler Bar's owners has their own relationship with Akademi Kristus and their own reasons for loving what the organisation represents.

For me (Ailsa), Akademi Kristus holds a special place in my heart. My connection with them began when I was a child, long before I ever thought I’d someday work with or support them. Years later, during the final year of my business degree, I returned as an intern and volunteered for four months.

I went there hoping to give back and share what I’d learned, but Akademi Kristus gave me much more than I could ever return. At a time when I was figuring out my future, they brought me clarity and reignited a spark in my faith I didn’t even realise I’d lost.

My time there taught me that I want to build a business that is about more than just profit, a business rooted in generosity, service, and the creation of opportunities for others. That experience shaped what I want to do, and this is how I came to be part of Brawler Bar. And that’s why Brawler Bar’s relationship with Akademi Kristus means so much to me. In many ways, it feels like a continuation of what Geoff and Erma first showed me: that a form of success is having a heart to give.

Growing Together

At Brawler Bar, we want to see Akademi Kristus’s students thrive and its staff feel supported. We hope their programs keep growing stronger, and that more young people get the chance to learn, develop new skills, and imagine a different future. We dream of breaking the cycle of poverty in their community, and the root of the organisation's hope, in the saving works of Jesus Christ, strengthened and bearing fruit.

A Business That Means Something

Brawler Bar was built around the belief that commercial success and generosity don't have to compete with one another, in fact, we believe one can fuel the other. As Brawler Bar grows, our ability to contribute grows with it, and every new customer, every retail partnership, every product launch, and every milestone gives us a greater opportunity to invest beyond ourselves.

Our hope isn’t just to donate when we can. We want generosity to be at the heart of our business. That’s why Akademi Kristus is so important to the future we picture for Brawler Bar. We don’t want to act like we know what Akademi Kristus needs or try to take credit for their amazing work. Our goal is simpler, and this is to support them, love them, and show Christ-like generosity.

We want to stand with the people at Akademi Kristus as they do the hard work, support their vision, and help create the resources and opportunities they need not just to keep going, but to invest in an even brighter future for the children and families they serve.

The Dream! Becoming a Corporate Sponsor

One of our big dreams at Brawler Bar is to become a real partner and an official Corporate Sponsor of Akademi Kristus. But our vision is bigger than just financial support, we want to invest in the future of the children and young people in their community, which means thinking beyond immediate needs and asking a bigger question:

How can we help create pathways that continue long after a student’s time at Akademi Kristus?

As Brawler Bar grows, we hope to help Akademi Kristus create pathways that continue beyond high school, keeping young people connected to the community as they move into further education, vocational training and employment. Becoming a Corporate Sponsor would mean helping Akademi Kristus walk alongside students into adulthood, supporting them with opportunities, skills and relationships that can help them build strong and sustainable futures.

One of the most powerful forms of generosity is capacity building and helping people and organisations gain the resources and skills to keep growing on their own. That’s the kind of relationship we hope to build with Akademi Kristus. For us, becoming that Corporate Sponsor is more than just a milestone we hope to achieve; it would mark the start of a deeper commitment to helping Akademi Kristus continue to flourish.
